We are a not for profit organization based on fortunate farm in Caspar, California, on unceded Pomo land.
Our mission is to preserve and share ancestral shepherding skills, such as: hand (blade) shearing, rotational grazing for land management, wildlife coexistence techniques, spinning and plying, wool carding, combing, and scouring, natural dying, lambing, cross-cultural history, and more.
Our values include honoring native sovereignty and indigenous land-based skills, providing access to shepherding for underrepresented groups such as racial, gender, and sexual minorities, and putting animal welfare above profit or convenience.
When given a choice, we chose the slow way to do a thing, by hand. Though it is not good for capitalism, it is good for connection.

Kevas is an ancient word for sheep, from the Hebrew כבש. We call our flock by this older name and they seem to like it!
